Paul F. LaGattuta III


Paul LaGattuta currently lives in New Jersey. Born in the Bayside section of Queens, New York he moved to Long Island when he was in high school. He graduated from St. Francis Preparatory School and earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University at Albany, State University of New York. After graduating from college, Mr. LaGattuta entered New York Law School and obtained his Juris Doctorate.

Mr. LaGattuta began his career representing plaintiffs in personal injury and medical malpractice cases with a well-known plaintiff’s negligence firm during which time, he gained valuable trial experience and achieved numerous verdicts, awards, and settlements on behalf of the firm’s diverse clientele. Mr. LaGattuta also worked on varied legal issues ranging from insurance coverage matters to guardianship proceedings.

In order to diversify, Mr. LaGattuta began working as an associate for Fixler & Associates, LLP, an established insurance defense firm located in New York City and Westchester County, New York. While at F&A, he continued to build on his trial experience by defending individuals and corporations in all types of personal injury, malpractice, and insurance coverage matters. He obtained extensive experience in the state trial and appellate courts, with emphasis on, professional liability (including medical malpractice), property damage and personal injury defense litigation, primarily in the areas of automobile, premises, construction, petroleum, and product liability. During his tenure at F&A, Mr. LaGattuta handled a wide variety of high-exposure cases, compiling a record of defense verdicts in virtually every area of personal injury, professional liability, and insurance coverage claims. He was also instrumental in the development and implementation of a transactional real estate practice at F&A, which eventually led to the creation of a real estate department within this firm.

Mr. LaGattuta's practice has focused on defending claims involving of residential and commercial building/property ownership and management including alleged structural and transient defects, inadequate security, elevator malfunctions; restaurant liability, inclusive of food poisoning and Dram Shop claims. In addition, he has gained formidable experience handling cases involving construction site accidents (inclusive of claims involving New York State's Labor Law and related indemnity and insurance procurement obligations), cases involving petroleum transportation and deliveries (ie. New York Navigation Law claims), and third-party motor vehicle accident claims on behalf of self-insureds and commercial automobile policyholders.
